Episode 1: Value and Values

Listen Here

Summary

There are a lot of things that create value in an employee-owned company. Some of those things are bottom line related: sales, customer satisfaction, repurchase obligations, or external market pressures within or across industries. But, when we begin to talk about what motivates employees to think, act and feel like owners we move to the area of values. As you might expect, the two are closely related. In this episode we take on both ideas and try to show that while each is important in its own right, when connected in a thoughtful way, value and values can have positive benefits for your company's bottom line and culture of ownership.

In the first segment of this episode we speak with Matthew Silla and Eric Flinkinger of Apple Growth Partners about what external factors drive the value of a company. In the second segment we speak with Matthew Hancock of Praxis Consulting Group about how values internal the company, like empathy, are foundation to building a strong culture of ownership and how, in the end, they can affect material measures of value.
